The yacht's home base, advertised destination and permitted operating route are separate questions. Ask the provider to confirm the exact arrangement before planning flights or stops.

A Florida Keys trip and a Bahamas embarkation should be compared as different options. This guide does not decide eligibility from a flag or yacht size; have the operator explain current permissions for the actual vessel, passengers and route.

Waterfront days or island passages?

Fort Lauderdale and Miami offer a city-and-waterway setting. A trip towards the Exumas is about a different kind of time afloat, with island stops and more attention to shallow-water access.

Nassau, Highbourne Cay, Warderick Wells and Staniel Cay are useful names when exploring a Bahamas brief, not a route to promise in advance. Ask how the available days, yacht draft and conditions shape the options.

If the destination is the Bahamas, compare a direct embarkation there with a plan involving a crossing. Be clear whether you want the passage itself or would prefer more time among the islands.

Build flexibility into the travel plan

Ask how the actual dates affect weather planning, crossings and the vessel's schedule. A seasonal description is not a forecast, and a yacht described as Florida-based may have other movements planned.

Discuss weather-related alternatives and the written arrangements for changes. Leave enough clarity around arrival and return travel that a changed boarding point is not an unexpected problem.

Use the exact marina, not just the city name

Compare inclusions on the same route

An all-inclusive description and a plus-expenses description need unpacking before comparison. Ask what fuel, food, drinks, berths and additional charges are included for the proposed cruising area.

If the plan includes the Bahamas, ask the operator to explain the relevant permissions and any associated charges in writing. Do not carry assumptions from a Florida outing into an island charter.

For island time, look below the waterline too

Draft is a useful starting question for a Bahamas-focused trip, but a brochure number alone does not establish access. Ask the captain which proposed stops suit the actual vessel and conditions.

Also compare shaded space, tender arrangements, swimming access and how the yacht supports time away from shore supplies. Those details help distinguish a motor yacht and catamaran for the same group.
