A gulet is the beginning of the comparison
A broad deck and a traditional silhouette do not tell you how a particular gulet operates. Compare her spaces and crew arrangements rather than assuming every vessel bearing the name offers the same week.
- How much sailing is realistically expected on the proposed route?
- When can air conditioning run, and how are cabins ventilated?
- What are the cabin and bathroom layouts, crew roles and shaded dining spaces?
Choose your version of the Blue Voyage
The Mavi Yolculuk, or Blue Voyage, suggests time between bays rather than a race around towns. English Harbour, Seven Islands, Çökertme and Löngoz are places to discuss for a Gökova-focused route.
Compare that idea with the Bodrum peninsula around Turgutreis and Yalıkavak if time ashore matters more. Ask which stops fit the yacht, dates and desired pace; these names are not a fixed navigation plan.
Nearby on a map is not the same trip
Kos and the other Dodecanese islands make a cross-border itinerary tempting. Put that preference in the brief before considering vessels, rather than treating it as a small addition after departure.
Ask the operator to verify the yacht’s eligibility, current clearance requirements and the time involved. Compare the extra passages and formalities with spending those days along the Turkish coast.
Ask what the operator will confirm
Request a current explanation of the vessel’s commercial permissions, passenger documentation and cruising paperwork. Ask who handles changes if the guest list or route alters.
Waste arrangements and protected zones in Gökova belong in the route discussion too. Have the operator verify current local requirements rather than relying on a general description of transit logs or blue-card procedures.
Compare exposure, not just distance
A route around the exposed end of the Bodrum peninsula is a different proposition from time within the gulf. Ask the skipper how the forecast changes the sequence and where the alternative stops lie.
The presence of sails does not establish upwind performance or comfort. Discuss the specific yacht’s operation and the group’s tolerance for longer passages.

Compare current quotations with crew roles, meal arrangements, cabin details, generator hours and activities stated. Those differences can matter more to the experience than length alone.
